Oleh V. Snitsar (Vehan)

Soldier Oleg Snitsiar (call sign Vegan) was killed on November 11, 2022 during the evacuation of wounded comrades in the area of the village of Nevelske in the Donetsk region. The car they were traveling in hit an enemy mine. Oleg would have turned 43 on November 19. Oleg was born in the village of Vasylykhа in the Kyiv region. He graduated from the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture with a degree in Industrial and Civil Construction, becoming a civil engineer. He lived in the capital, became a private entrepreneur, and engaged in roofing work. He opened a workshop for the production of sheet metal products and planned to expand his business. He loved nature and was a vegetarian. He was an active participant in the birdwatching community in Ukraine. Since 2014, he has been a volunteer and actively helped the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On the first day of the full-scale war, on February 24, 2022, Oleg went to the military enlistment office. He was processed and sent off with other volunteers, but they were unable to reach the military unit due to ongoing active fighting. Returning to Kyiv, Oleg initially engaged in volunteer work. Then he joined the volunteer formation "Free Ukraine" and went to Mykolaiv. There, in May, he finally joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a medical instructor. Oleg was buried at the Berkovets cemetery in Kyiv. He is survived by his wife and son.
