Oleh V. Turianskyi

17-year-old military university cadet Oleh Turyanskyi killed in action on February 26, 2022, in Kyiv. He and his comrades came under enemy fire while on a combat mission. The young man was due to turn 18 in a month. Oleh was born in the city of Staryi Sambir, Lviv region, into a military family. When he was three years old, his family moved to Chernihiv region. In 2019, he graduated from the 9th grade of Chernihiv College No. 11 and enrolled in the Chernihiv Lyceum with enhanced military and physical training. In 2021, he enrolled in the Military Institute of Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko, majoring in 'Military Psychology.' He dreamed of becoming an officer. When the full-scale war began, the cadets participated in the defense of Kyiv. Posthumously, soldier Oleh Turyanskyi was awarded the military rank of 'Junior Lieutenant.' 'I remember Oleh as a kind and friendly boy. He was the soul of the company and dreamed of becoming a military man. There was always a positive vibe around Oleh, and he always had a good mood. Oleh's friends called him 'Zaychyk.' The loss of Oleh is a heavy blow for everyone who ever knew him. Exactly one month after his death, he was due to turn 18,' recalls his former comrade from the military lyceum. The young officer was buried in his hometown in Lviv region. Oleh is survived by his grandmother and parents.
