Oleh V. Zubyk

Zubyk Oleh Volodymyrovych was born on August 15, 1984, in the village of Dobropillia, Buchach district, Ternopil region. From 1990, he lived in the city of Ternopil. He was a rifleman-sniper of the mechanized battalion of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on March 5, 2021. During the full-scale military invasion on February 24, 2022, he defended positions near the city of Zolote in Luhansk region. On April 29, 2022, he was wounded in the village of Orikkhove, near the city of Popasna in Luhansk region. In August 2022, he participated in battles in the Mykolaiv region and was wounded on September 6, 2022, near the village of Ternovi Pody. He returned to duty in December, without fully recovering from his wounds, and defended the city of Bakhmut. On December 19, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in the village of Klishchiyivka, he pulled a wounded soldier from a burning tank, handed him over to medics, and then returned to the battle and died that same day. He was buried on December 24, 2022, in the Alley of Heroes of the Mykulyntsi Cemetery in Ternopil.
