- Main Sergeant Oleh Shlik (call sign Bih) was killed on February 12, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Novopil in the Donetsk region. The soldier was 52 years old. Oleh was from the city of Zaporizhzhia. He studied at the Zaporizhzhia Trade College, specializing in "Trade Management and Commercial Activity," and obtained the qualification of a commodity expert-merchant. He worked in his specialty. Later, he changed his field of activity. Recently, he worked on construction sites in Ukraine and abroad. He loved to spend his free time with his family and friends. With the start of the full-scale war, Oleh joined the local Territorial Defense Forces to defend his native city and country. He served in the 110th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the commander of a rifle squad. "Our life has been divided into two parts. Before and after. No one has ever given me the same feeling of happiness as my husband. With him, I felt the most beautiful. He was very strong, courageous. We miss him so much, we don't believe it. How could this have happened... It feels like we've been cut off from oxygen, unable to breathe. A sea of tears... Where do they come from in such quantities... And the soul is unbearably painful... And it's scarier in the morning when you wake up and realize it's not a dream. From the first days, he went to defend our Motherland. He adored his family, his children. He said every day that we were the most precious to him. We dreamed of going to the sea after the war. But it was not meant to be. In our family, there is a tragedy, pain forever. It is impossible to understand and accept. Our best one! Our Hero! You have left this world, but you will forever remain in our hearts and thoughts with the children..." - wrote the wife of the fallen Iryna. The defender was buried in the cemetery of St. Nicholas in Zaporizhzhia. At home, Oleh was awaited by his wife, daughter, and son.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
