Oleh Z. Andrusiv

45-year-old junior sergeant Oleh Andrusiv was killed on September 18, 2023, at the I. Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital in Dnipro. A day earlier, he was seriously wounded while performing a combat mission on the outskirts of the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. Oleh was born in the village of Bodnariv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. After graduating from Ivano-Frankivsk Vocational School No. 5, he obtained the profession of a carpenter. He worked as a builder all his life. His last place of work was the construction company "Halkombud". He was interested in history and football. He loved to read books, including religious literature, as he was a religious person. Later, while at war, he always asked his loved ones to pray for him. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleh joined the ranks of the defenders of Ukraine and became a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of senior rifleman-operator of the rifle company of the 419th separate rifle battalion. "Oleh was a patriot of his native land since childhood. He loved his daughters infinitely, spending all his free time with them, trying to instill in them a love for God and the Motherland. He was sensitive and fair, very responsible and reliable in everything," said his cousin Yaroslava Solodovchuk. "The eldest among three brothers. Always calm and balanced. Oleh Andrusiv was a loving father, a beloved husband, the pride of his parents, a master, a good comrade, and a reliable brother-in-arms," added Andriy Naida, the mayor of Kalush. The defender was buried in his native village. Oleh left behind a wife, two daughters, who were 8 and 4 years old at the time of his death, as well as a loving family, friends, and brothers-in-arms.
