Oleksandr A. Penkov (Molot)

Junior Sergeant Oleksandr Penkov (call sign Hammer) was killed on February 6, 2023 near the settlement of Krasna Hora in the Donetsk region. In the battle with the enemy, he suffered a fatal shrapnel wound. The defender was 46 years old. Oleksandr was a native of the city of Chudniv, Zhytomyr region. He graduated from the Zhytomyr Vocational School, where he obtained the profession of an electrician. He worked as a worker in the local military unit. In his free time, he loved to learn new things and improve his skills. During the full-scale invasion, the man fought in the ranks of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozky. He was a rifleman in the 1st Separate Rifle Battalion. "You were the best person in the world. We miss you very much and will always remember you. We hope that you are watching over us from heaven," wrote the wife of the fallen Olha. Oleksandr was buried on the Alley of Heroes in his native Chudniv. At home, he was waited for by his wife, two daughters and a son. The military man was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
