- Senior Lieutenant Oleksandr Popsui (call sign Petrovich) was killed on October 6, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Ternivka in the Donetsk region. The officer was driving a vehicle when he fell into an enemy ambush. The occupiers shot the car at close range. Oleksandr was born and lived in Dnipro. He graduated from the Dnipro National Mining University, where he obtained the profession of automotive mechanic. He loved sports and was involved in wrestling. His greatest passion was cars, and he loved to improve them. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleksandr secretly defended his native country. He served in the 15th separate regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was the commander of a patrol platoon. Together with the unit, he carried out combat missions on the front line. "There is no better man than Oleksandr. He is my first and only love. He was so worried about me and my parents that he didn't even say he was going to hell, he stuck to the legend that he was in Kyiv. Only after his death did we find out where he really was. The day I found out about his death divided my life into 'before' and 'after'... After - this is a new reality in which my beloved husband and the best son for his parents no longer exist!" - said the officer's wife, Anhelina. The defender was buried in his native Dnipro. Oleksandr is survived by his wife, parents, and younger brother. The officer was posthumously promoted to the rank of Captain and awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
