Oleksandr A. Yakivets (Dykyi)

Sergeant Oleksandr Yakivets (call sign "Dykyi) was killed on March 10, 2023, while performing his duties near the settlement of Kamianka in the Donetsk region. During the enemy assault, the soldier sustained fatal injuries. He turned 46 years old on February 27. Oleksandr was born and lived in the village of Andriivka, Poltava region. He had a secondary education and worked as a tractor operator in agricultural production at the STOV "Andriivka" enterprise. In 2015-2016, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in Donbas and was awarded the "Defender of the Motherland" distinction. During the full-scale war, he decided to use his combat experience and took up arms again to defend his homeland as part of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Major General Marko Bezruchko, serving as a rifleman-medic. "He was a true patriot of his country, kind, honest, devoted, the best husband and father for his family. Having saved his comrades, he gave the most precious thing - his life," said the daughter of the fallen soldier. The military was buried in his native village. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his wife Svitlana, daughter Diana, and son Daniel.
