Oleksandr A. Zahorulko

Soldier Oleksandr Zahorulko was killed on August 31, 2023 while carrying out a combat mission as a result of enemy artillery shelling near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The defender was forever 43 years old. Oleksandr was born in the city of Ichnia, Chernihiv region. He studied at school No. 3, where he completed nine grades. Then he worked at a sawmill for 10 years, and later engaged in the manufacture of doors, windows and furniture to order. This was his favorite occupation. Recently, he worked as a cutter at the "Goldpak" company. On April 6, 2022, Oleksandr was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a rifleman-medic in the 118th separate mechanized brigade. "He was calm, gentle, hardworking. He loved his son very much, did everything for him - bought and gave gifts. He could help around the household, kept a piglet, knew how to plant in the garden, as if under a ruler. He did not shy away from work. Wherever you look, everything is the work of his hands - there is a stool that he made himself, somewhere he installed windows, and somewhere he plastered," said his mother Nadiya Mykolaivna. "Kind, sensitive, he tried to help everyone. He loved nature very much, collected mushrooms and went fishing. He devoted a lot of free time to his son and family," added his ex-wife Kristina. The warrior was buried in his hometown. Oleksandr is survived by his parents, ex-wife and son.
