Oleksandr A. Zhukovskyi (Zhuk)

Serviceman Oleksandr Zhukovskyi (call sign Zhuk) was killed on October 11, 2023, in a battle with Russian invaders in the area of the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. The warrior was forever 44 years old. Oleksandr was born in Dnipro. Since childhood, he lived in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region. There he graduated from school No. 5. For 13 years, he worked as a press operator in the heat treatment section of the pipe rolling shop at Interpipe Niko Tube LLC. Colleagues remember him as a responsible employee and a good mentor for young specialists. He was passionate about numismatics. In 2014, the man participated in the ATO in the Donetsk region. Since he had combat experience, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the first day of the full-scale invasion, February 24, 2022. He wanted to protect his relatives, loved ones, and the country he loved so much from the war. He served in the ranks of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". He held the position of senior mortar squad leader in the fire support company. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he fought in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. "I will always remember him. He will be with me forever, as long as my heart beats," wrote the mother of the fallen soldier, Halyna Ivanivna. The hero is buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in Nikopol. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his mother, son, relatives, and friends. The defender was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
