- Sailor Oleksandr Uzun (call sign Odesa) was killed on April 9, 2023, while rescuing wounded comrades in the Marinka area of Donetsk region. The defender was forever 37 years old. Oleksandr was from the village of Hrushivka in Mykolaiv region. He lived in Pervomaiisk. Since 2019, he had been living with his family in Odesa. He had a secondary education. He worked as a construction worker. He loved his job very much and dreamed of rebuilding Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, Oleksandr decided to join the local territorial defense. For a long time, he arranged checkpoints and welded anti-tank "hedgehogs". Then, together with his friends, he decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Later, he became a serviceman of the 35th separate brigade of the naval infantry named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyy. He served in the engineering and sapper unit. In October, the man learned that his beloved was expecting their firstborn. He was very happy and dreamed of playing with the child. The couple had been together for over 5 years, but they had always postponed the official marriage. On January 16, 2023, after completing his training, Oleksandr was traveling by train to his comrades who were defending the Donetsk direction. The route passed through Odesa, where Oleksandr had two hours to wait for a transfer. During this time, the couple got married: they caught the moment when the registry office was open. After that, the soldier went to the front line. "My husband is a true Hero. It was his personal conscious choice to go to war. He was very polite and cheerful, had many acquaintances and friends, always helped everyone and went to meet them," said Iryna Uzun. "I knew Sashka personally, we are from the same village. Our houses were neighboring, so we often saw each other. He was the soul of the company, always smiling and very kind. He was the real one," wrote Valentyna Hruba. The naval infantryman was buried in Pervomaiisk. Oleksandr left behind a wife and a daughter, who was born on June 8, 2023, two months after the death of her father.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
