Oleksandr B. Volyk

Sailor Oleksandr Volyk was killed on June 23, 2023 near the village of Storozheve in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, he received a fatal explosive injury. The defender was 54 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Horodkivka, Vinnytsia region. He studied at the local secondary school No. 1. He then graduated from the Vinnytsia Vocational and Technical School, where he mastered the profession of an electrician. From 1989 to 2020, he worked in his profession at the Kryzopil Sugar Factory. He was a highly qualified professional. Colleagues and management respected and valued him. In 2014-2015, the man took part in the ATO in the Donetsk region. He then received the medals "Veteran of War" and "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation". So, having combat experience, during the full-scale invasion, he joined the army again. He served in the 35th separate marine brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyy. He was a anti-aircraft gunner in the anti-aircraft missile platoon. "My husband and I lived 32 years of happy family life. He was a loving family man, a hardworking person, a good comrade both in peacetime and during the war. As a real man, on February 24, 2022, on the first day of the great war, he went to defend his country," said the wife of the fallen. The warrior was buried in his native village. Oleksandr is survived by his wife Natalia, sons Dmytro and Vadym.
