Oleksandr D. Karabanov

27-year-old Junior Sergeant Oleksandr Karabanov died on March 27, 2022 in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Kamyanka in the Kharkiv region. Until October 2023, he was considered missing, until a DNA examination confirmed his death. Oleksandr was born in the village of Hayshin, Kyiv region. He graduated from the Pereyaslav Vocational and Technical Education Center and mastered the profession of a cook. In his free time, he loved to play football. In 2016, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since then he has been defending Ukraine in the ATO / JFO. He had awards and decorations. At the time of the full-scale Russian invasion, the man was serving in the 95th separate airborne assault brigade, holding the position of a platoon combat medic. From the first days, together with his comrades-in-arms, he continued to perform his duties and repel the occupiers. "Sasha has always been and remains our true hero," said his sister Svitlana. "He will forever remain for us a true warrior, a man of his word. He was always able to come to the rescue and did even more than was needed," added his comrades-in-arms. On November 29, 2023, the paratrooper was buried in his native village. Oleksandr is survived by his parents, sisters, brother, wife, son born in 2021, other relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.
