Oleksandr D. Solomko

Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Solomko was killed on February 18, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Ivanivske, Donetsk region. The defender was 53 years old. Oleksandr was from the village of Banylivtsi, Chernivtsi region. After graduating from the local school, he entered an electrical engineering college. But after three months, he received a summons and went to serve in the military. Later, in peacetime, he worked as a long-haul driver and was often abroad. When the full-scale war began, the man returned to his homeland and joined the ranks of the defenders. He fought for his country as part of the 57th separate rifle battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "Together with his comrades-in-arms, they held the defense to the last, did not leave their positions, did not give the enemy a single step of their native land, although they had a limited supply of ammunition. They were surrounded and was killed as true warriors. Oleksandr Dmytrovych was a loving husband and father, a good son and brother, a true patriot. The war takes the best, and it is impossible to come to terms with this. Eternal memory and boundless glory to the Hero!" - noted in the Banylivtsi village council. The defender was buried in his native village. Oleksandr is survived by his wife, three sons, a daughter, other relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.
