Oleksandr E. Bodnar

Soldier Oleksandr Bodnar was killed on December 26, 2023 near the city of Avdiivka in Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries during a mortar and artillery shelling. The defender was 29 years old. Oleksandr was born in the city of Bucha in the Kyiv region. He graduated from local school No. 4, and then obtained secondary technical education. In 2018–2019, he served his mandatory military service. He loved fishing. Lately, he was engaged in plumbing repair. During the full-scale invasion, in April 2022, he voluntarily joined the defense of Ukraine. He joined the Separate Presidential Brigade named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "He was a devoted fighter and patriot of Ukraine. Very generous, cheerful, with a kind heart. He was loved and respected by his family and friends. We will never forget him," wrote his former girlfriend Arina. Oleksandr was buried in the Alley of Glory in Bucha. The warrior is survived by his father and sister.
