Oleksandr E. Shevanov (Sheva)

Paratrooper Oleksandr Shevanov (call sign Sheva) was killed on May 17, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. The next day, the defender would have turned 24 years old. Oleksandr was from the city of Okhtyrka in the Sumy region. He graduated from the local school. Then he obtained the profession of a gas welder at a vocational school. Before the invasion, he worked abroad at a parquet factory. He dedicated his free time to his family and loved ones. For the sake of his family and the peaceful future of Ukraine, in March 2023, the man voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent training in the United Kingdom. After returning in May, he was sent to defend the Donetsk region. He held the position of a grenade launcher in the 79th separate air assault brigade. "My husband went to war voluntarily. Oleksandr was a kind and sincere person," said Yulia Shevanova. The defender was buried in his hometown. At home, he was awaited by his mother, two sisters, wife, daughter, relatives and friends.
