Oleksandr F. Kucheriavyi

Sergeant Oleksandr Kucheriavyi was killed on August 13, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Sribne in the Donetsk region. Oleksandr was born in the village of Varvarivka, Zaporizhzhia region. He lived in the city of Huliaipole. He graduated from the Dobropillia secondary school and the police school in Kyiv. After his military service, he worked as a physical education teacher in his hometown school for several years. Then he worked in the police until retirement. He was a liquidator of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster and the Spitak earthquake in Armenia. He was passionate about sports and history. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Oleksandr, who was 59 years old, volunteered to defend Ukraine. He served in the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Volodymyr Monomakh. While in the army, Oleksandr told his family: "I want to look people straight in the eye because I have a sense of responsibility for the Motherland, for my family, for my home. I couldn't have done otherwise." "A person with a capital letter, kind, sincere, honest, decent, reliable, faithful, always ready to help. Everything rested on his shoulders, any problems were solved in an instant, the best dad in the world. I don't want to believe that you are not by my side. You are always in my heart, and every day of mine begins with thoughts of you," wrote the deceased's daughter Alina. The defender was buried at the Matviyivske cemetery in Zaporizhzhia. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his wife and daughter.
