Oleksandr F. Verbytskyi (Verba)

Soldier Oleksandr Verbytskyi (call sign Verba) was killed on June 13, 2023 in battle with the enemy near the village of Levadne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The fighter received fatal injuries during an enemy tank shelling. The defender was 40 years old. Oleksandr was born and lived in the village of Petropavlivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from Petropavlivskyi Lyceum No. 2. After the army, until 2008, he worked in the local police department, in the pre-trial detention center and in the patrol. Then he obtained a bachelor's degree at the Donetsk Law Institute, where he studied "Jurisprudence". During his studies, he met his future wife. His last job was at an agricultural company, where Oleksandr held the position of security guard. In his free time, he was engaged in agriculture, growing vegetables, apples, pears, hazelnuts, currants, blueberries. He was passionate about everything related to plants and animals. He was a good farmer. During the full-scale war, the man fought for Ukraine in the ranks of the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He held the position of combat medic. He was a reliable comrade and a responsible fighter - for this his comrades-in-arms valued him. "We lived in marriage for 17 wonderful years. He was a reliable rear for me, a loving and caring father for his children. A good son of his parents. A reliable brother. A kind, decent, wonderful interlocutor. A sincere person who never refused to help. He believed in his Motherland, which he went to defend for the sake of his children and his family. He said he didn't want his son to fight, he wanted a peaceful future for him. I still can't believe what happened. I love him infinitely. This pain will never subside, a great loss for the parents. The children were left without a father. His son will only remember him from our words and photos. His daughter is now without her father's support and advice, and at her teenage age it means so much," said the widow of the fallen. The defender was buried in his native village. Oleksandr is survived by his parents Fedir and Valentyna, brother Kostiantyn, wife Halyna, daughter Inessa and son Danyil.
