Oleksandr H. Kalinich (Kalyna)

Soldier Oleksandr Kalinich (call sign Kalyna) was killed on December 29, 2022 in a battle with the occupiers near the settlement of Kurdiumivka in the Donetsk region. The fighter was 39 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Halytsya, Chernihiv region. He stuwas killed at the local school. Then he graduated from the Nizhyn State Pedagogical University named after Mykola Gogol with a degree in "History and Jurisprudence". He served in the military. He worked as a sales manager. All his life he loved football, he was a long-time participant in competitions in the Brovary district of Kyiv region. Oleksandr was also a participant in the folk amateur orchestra of sopilka players of the Halytskyi House of Culture. During the full-scale war, in March 2022, Oleksandr defended the Kyiv region as part of the volunteer battalion "Brotherhood". Then he joined the ranks of the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the Kherson and Donetsk regions. "Oleksandr was a true patriot, a courageous and brave warrior, a worthy son, husband, the best older brother, a loving father, a faithful comrade... It seemed that his love was enough for everyone. He was a strong support for the family. He gave his life for the peace, peace and Ukraine and believed in victory until the last breath!" - said the sister of the fallen Lilia. "Sasha is an iron, selfless defender, a long-time participant in football competitions, a great sports fan, a Ukrainian patriot and a person with strong life beliefs," added his football colleagues. "He was a talented fighter. He gave his life too dearly," his comrades-in-arms noted. The defender was buried in his native village. Oleksandr left behind a wife and two daughters.
