Oleksandr H. Kovtun

Born on January 22, 1985, in the village of Klishky, Shostka district, Sumy region. In 2002, he graduated from the general education school of the village of Klishky, Shostka district, and in 2006 - from the Putivl College of the Sumy National Agrarian University (city of Putivl, Sumy region). From November 2016, he served under contract in the 13th separate motorized infantry battalion of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Operational Command "North" of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A4427 (field post V2278), the urban-type settlement of Voronizh, Shostka district, Sumy region). From July 2017, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On January 1, 2018, Oleksandr Kovtun was killed as a result of an explosion from an explosive device while performing a combat mission near the urban-type settlement of Novotoshkivske, Popasna district, Luhansk region. On January 5, 2018, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Klishky, Shostka district.
