Oleksandr I. Derii (Kasper)

Derii Oleksandr Viktorovych was born on June 2, 1992 in Poltava. After graduating from the 9th grade of Poltava Secondary School No. 30, he studied at Poltava Vocational School No. 23. In 2011, he began military service as part of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. For a year, he participated in combat operations in the ATO in Eastern Ukraine. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was mobilized and was at the forefront as part of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade. He held the military position of a sniper-rifleman of the 1st Airborne Assault Platoon in military unit A 1493. He was killed on May 6, 2022 during heavy shelling of the village of Malinivka near Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The farewell ceremony for the fallen serviceman took place on May 10, 2022 near the Holy Assumption Cathedral in Poltava. Oleksandr Derii was buried on May 10, 2022 at the Zaturynsky Cemetery in Poltava.
