Oleksandr I. Holovko (Feniks)

Sergeant Oleksandr Holovko (call sign Phoenix) was killed on March 13, 2022, while defending the Kyiv region from the occupiers. The 41-year-old fighter was fatally wounded near the village of Moshchun. Oleksandr was born in the village of Shramkivka, Cherkasy region. He obtained the profession of a cook at Kyiv Vocational School No. 16. He served in the military. Then he worked as a security guard in various companies. In 2014-2016, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donbas. He loved fishing, resting with friends in nature, watching movies with his family, and spending time with his daughter. During the full-scale war, Oleksandr took up arms again to defend his native country from the occupiers. He served in the mortar battery of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. "He was sociable, never hid behind others. Where it was necessary to duck down, on the contrary, he stood up for his comrades-in-arms. Even in the last minutes, he covered his comrade-in-arms and saved his life," said the wife of the deceased, Natalia. Oleksandr was buried in his native village. The defender left behind his parents, sisters, brother, wife, and daughter. Posthumously, Sergeant Oleksandr Holovko was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
