- Soldier Oleksandr Kalugin (call sign Kaluga) died on February 19, 2023 while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Vodiane in the Donetsk region. During the evacuation of wounded comrades, he himself sustained fatal injuries as a result of enemy shelling. The defender was 33 years old. Oleksandr was born and lived in Zaporizhzhia. He graduated from Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, where he obtained a degree in mechanical engineering technology. He worked as a manager of the problem cargo terminal of the "Nova Poshta" company. On the second day of the full-scale invasion, on February 25, 2022, the man volunteered to the military commissariat. But his candidacy was rejected due to the lack of army experience. Nevertheless, he managed to achieve his goal and on April 19, 2022 he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. He took the position of a grenadier and went to the front line. For 10 months he defended the Donetsk region. "Oleksandr was like a brother to me. We always thought we would be together until the end. I have never met such people in my life," his comrade Maksym said. "We don't know how to live on, because he was our support and support in everything," the relatives noted. The warrior was buried at the Osypenkivskyi cemetery in Zaporizhzhia. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his mother, wife, daughter and son.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
