- 42-year-old senior soldier Oleksandr Kukharchuk (call sign Panda) was killed on April 17, 2024 near the village of Netailove in the Donetsk region. He suffered a fatal explosive injury while performing a combat mission. Oleksandr was born in Donetsk. In 1999, he graduated with honors from the Donetsk Economic College with a degree in Accounting. He obtained a higher education at the Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after Mykhailo Tugan-Baranovsky, where he later remained to work as a lecturer. Subsequently, he became a private entrepreneur. And before the full-scale invasion, he worked as a CNC operator at the LG washing machine factory in Wroclaw, Poland. He was actively involved in public activities, enjoyed football and tennis, and loved to travel. With the start of the full-scale war, the man returned from abroad and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Initially, he served in military unit A1451, and later transferred to the 79th separate airborne assault regiment "Hertz". He held the position of senior sapper of the engineering and sapper platoon of the airborne battalion. For his service, the soldier was awarded the "Iron Cross" and the "Cross of the Airborne Assault Troops". "Sasha was a worthy person, with a sense of justice. Extremely caring in the family. He was concerned about the fate of strangers. A very progressive and caring person who always participated in all environmental toloka, explained the topic of waste sorting to children in an accessible way, knew the value of natural resources, and suggested ways to fight for environmental rights. He was 200% intolerant of corruption," said the civilian wife of the deceased, Olena Pankratova. Oleksandr was buried in the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.
