Oleksandr I. Polonskyi (Ryzhyi)

Soldier Oleksandr Polonskyi (call sign Ryzhyi) was killed on April 23, 2023, in the Bakhmut area of Donetsk region. While extracting comrades from the battlefield together with his brothers-in-arms, the enemy began shelling with Grad rockets. Ryzhyi received a fatal wound. He would have turned 30 years old on May 6. Oleksandr was from the village of Ulianovka in Sumy region. He obtained the profession of a driver at the Bilopillia Vocational School. He worked at the Obolon factory in Sumy. He went to the village to his family every week. He bought a house for his mother and always helped her. During the full-scale war, in December 2022, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He defended Donetsk region. A month before Oleksandr's death, his father passed away. And after the death of the defender, two of his grandfathers was killed. One of them wrote a poem with the following lines: "It is sorrowful, painful, everything is falling out of my hands. The flat celestial dome oppresses. In the battle near Bakhmut, my grandson was killed. And even a namesake - Oleksandr Polonskyi." The warrior was buried in his native village. Oleksandr is survived by his mother, sister, and brother.
