Oleksandr I. Stakhniuk (Kolibri)

Senior soldier Oleksandr Stakhniuk (call sign Kolibri) was killed on December 18, 2022 near the village of Tonenkе, Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, he came under mortar fire from the enemy. The defender was 27 years old. Oleksandr was from the Rivne region. He was born in the village of Zirnе. He graduated from the Rivne Vocational Lyceum. By profession - an electrician. He lived in the city of Berezne. He linked his life with the military profession as early as 2015, when he went to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A year later, he signed a contract with military unit A1314. He held the position of rifleman-assistant grenadier. He took part in the ATO as part of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". After demobilization, he worked abroad, and in December 2021 he returned home. He devoted his free time to his daughter. From March 11, 2022, Oleksandr held the position of senior combat medic in the engineering and position battalion of the 47th separate engineering brigade. "I will fight to the last for victory and will do everything to survive. But if I die... Then let it be on our land, in Ukraine," recalls the words of the deceased wife Viktoria Stakhniuk. "We really miss that sparkle in the eyes, our pride, our defender Oleksandr," added sister Alla Prokopchuk. Oleksandr was buried in his native village. Oleksandr is survived by his mother, wife, sister and daughter. The soldier was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. At the end of 2023, a memorial plaque in his honor was opened on the territory of the Zirnе Lyceum.
