Oleksandr L. Skuba

Sergeant Oleksandr Skuba was killed on May 30, 2024 near the village of Ivanivske in Donetsk region as a result of a strike by an enemy drone. Two days before his death, the defender turned 43 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Tarakanov in Rivne region. After graduating from the local secondary school, he enrolled in Zdolbuniv Vocational School No. 2. In civilian life, he worked as a 4th class rolling stock repair mechanic at the Zdolbuniv car repair depot. There he met his future wife Myroslava, with whom they raised two daughters. Oleksandr was a good family man. He devoted all his free time to his family, especially his daughters. "Friendly, open, always smiling," recalls his colleague, lead engineer of the technical department and head of the trade union organization of the depot, Iryna Romaniuk. "Oleksandr was very attentive to people, sensitive to their problems and experiences." In September 2023, the man was called up for general mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After training at the training ground, he received a certificate of a MANPADS operator. And soon after, he qualified as a specialist at the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. He became a medic of the company, fought in the hottest spots: Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, Chasovyi Yar, Bakhmut. He saved more than one life. Oleksandr was farewelled in Zdolbuniv. At home, his wife and daughters Olha and Olena were waiting for him.
