Oleksandr L. Suknevych (Mah)

Serviceman Oleksandr Suknevych (call sign Mage) was killed on January 2, 2024 in Bakhmut, Donetsk region. The defender was 25 years old. Oleksandr was from Lviv. He studied at secondary school No. 72. He practiced boxing. He was a student of the Lviv boxing school, in particular of coach Vasyl Shan. He repeatedly became the winner of regional championships and a medalist in a number of all-Ukrainian tournaments. He received higher education at the Lviv State University of Physical Culture named after Ivan Bobersky. After finishing his studies, he served in the military, but later he was discharged for health reasons. In civilian life, he worked as a sales representative. He helped his mother in the charitable foundation "For Good", which cares for homeless animals. He adored cars. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he took up the defense of Ukraine. He joined the ranks of the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He defended the Motherland in the Donetsk direction. "Sashko was incredibly kind. He loved children very much, helped everyone. He always had a smile on his face. He constantly had candies with him and when he saw a sad person, he would treat them..." - said his cousin Olha Melnyk. The warrior was buried at the Mars Field of the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Oleksandr is survived by his parents, two brothers, grandfather, aunt, cousin and nephew.
