Oleksandr M. Bursov

Bursov Oleksandr Mykolayovych was born on February 4, 1976, in the village of Rybkivka, Chutivskyi district, Poltava region. Since 1995, he served in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, Senior Master Sergeant Oleksandr Bursov, like thousands of other servicemen, bravely stood up to defend the state from the Russian aggressor. Throughout March and early April, Oleksandr carried out combat missions in the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region. Despite constant artillery, mortar, and air strikes, the border guard delivered personnel, weapons, and ammunition to combat mission locations and back, conducted the evacuation of wounded servicemen, delivered medical supplies to the medical point, repaired vehicles, all while repelling continuous enemy assaults. Shoulder to shoulder with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a special forces unit "Azov," he heroically held the defense of the city of Mariupol. For his courage and selfless actions displayed during the performance of service tasks to ensure the protection of the state border and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Senior Master Sergeant Oleksandr Mykolayovych Bursov was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
