- Marine infantryman Oleksandr Diachenko (call sign Saint) was killed in action on March 18, 2022, as a result of a missile strike by Russian forces on a barracks in Mykolaiv. The serviceman was 35 years old. Oleksandr was born in Yasenove Druge village in Odesa region. He stu to be a tailor at Luhansk Technicum but did not work in that field. He worked as an electrician at an enterprise. The man lived in Luhansk for some time, where he started a family. However, the marriage did not work out, so he soon moved to Odesa after the divorce. He found work as a security guard. In 2016, Oleksandr decided to join the military service and joined the ranks of the 137th Separate Marine Battalion. He participated in the ATO/OOS and was awarded the medal "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation." In 2019, Oleksandr received a certificate of merit "For Courage, Strength, and High Professionalism." In 2018, he met his love, Nina, whom he soon married. The following year, he was discharged from military service due to health reasons. Oleksandr began to travel to Poland for work. When the full-scale invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine began in 2022, Oleksandr immediately returned from abroad. He went to Odesa to his military unit. On March 18, 2022, Russian troops launched a missile strike on Mykolaiv. One of the missiles hit the military barracks where the servicemen were sleeping. Dozens of soldiers in their sleep. Among them was Oleksandr Diachenko. "My hero, my beloved husband, my soul, and my pride," said his wife Nina. The serviceman was buried in Velikiy Dalnyk village in Odesa region.
