Oleksandr M. Hrechenko

Sapper-scout Oleksandr Grechenko (call sign Kazakh) was killed on March 28, 2024 while performing a combat mission near the village of Ivanivske in the Donetsk region as a result of a hit by an enemy FPV drone. The defender was 44 years old. Oleksandr was born in Mariupol. He graduated from school there. Later he moved to Odesa. He worked as a taxi driver. He defended Ukraine in the ranks of the 80th separate air assault brigade. He was first a driver, then a sapper-scout. He had the rank of soldier. He was awarded the "Golden Cross" badge. "From the first days of the full-scale war, Oleksandr sincerely expressed a desire to help his fellow countrymen as a volunteer, because his brother was born in Mariupol. He made more than 20 trips to Mariupol, evacuated civilians, delivered vital medicines, including insulin for children, and baby food to people and to the hospital. In September 2023, he voluntarily went to defend Ukraine. He was in the hot spots of the Donetsk region: Klishchiyivka, Ivanivske, Bakhmut... He conscientiously and bravely carried out all combat missions! Oleksandr was a strong, smiling, kind person. A good father, a reliable and fair comrade!" - his sister Iryna said. The defender was buried at the Western Cemetery in Odesa. Oleksandr left behind three children and other relatives.
