Oleksandr M. Kaplunov

Kaplunov Oleksandr Mykolayovych was born in 1983 in the village of Zlynka, Novoukrainskyi district, Kirovohrad region. He graduated from Zlynka School No. 2. He was a participant in the Revolution of Dignity. After Maidan, he volunteered to join the 12th Territorial Defense Battalion in Kyiv and took part in the war in eastern Ukraine in the area of the city of Shchastia in Luhansk region. Later, he was transferred to the 26th Artillery Brigade, based in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region. In 2015, he was discharged and moved to Kyiv. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he voluntarily took up the defense of the state as part of an airborne assault brigade. He was killed on March 26, 2022, in fierce battles near Kyiv. Kaplunov Oleksandr Mykolayovych was buried in the capital. For his personal courage and selfless actions, demonstrated in defense of the state's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and loyalty to his military oath, Kaplunov Oleksandr Mykolayovych was posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
