Oleksandr M. Kozak

49-year-old soldier Oleksandr Kozak was killed on April 7, 2024 near the village of Berestove in the Donetsk region. While performing his duties, he came under enemy artillery fire and suffered fatal injuries. Oleksandr was a native of the village of Volytsya-Polova in the Khmilnytskyi region. He graduated from the local school. He then mastered the profession of an electric gas welder at the Bazaliiskyi vocational school. In civilian life, he worked in his specialty. In his free time, he bred pigeons, loved fishing, and enjoyed spending time with his family. During the full-scale Russian invasion, in November 2023, the man became a fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade "Edelweiss". He was a sniper. "Dad was a good person, he was friendly, calm and balanced, very hardworking, a jack-of-all-trades, he helped the elderly who lived alone. He was a very loving husband and father, a kind comrade, always the first to go on any task, constantly encouraging his comrades. Dad's favorite saying was: 'Everything is positive.' And with this, he went into his last battle," said the daughter of the deceased. Oleksandr was buried in his native village. He left behind his wife Nadiia, son Maksym and daughter Mariia.
