- Lieutenant Oleksandr Odintsov (call sign Odin) was killed on May 10, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the vicinity of the village of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region. The officer was just 24 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Obody in the Sumy region. He graduated from the Sumy State Pedagogical University named after Anton Makarenko. He was a master of sports in Ukraine and a bronze medalist at the World Championship in pankration. In December 2021, he won a medal at the Ukrainian Championship. In 2019, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. He commanded a platoon and carried out combat missions in the area of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO). From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleksandr Odintsov, together with his comrades, continued to defend Ukraine from the occupiers. Oleksandr dreamed of a family and children. He met his love and proposed to his girlfriend. They were supposed to get married on June 4, 2022. "Everything happened so quickly. On May 4, we were still together. The next day they were sent to a hot spot, and on May 10, Oleksandr was killed. I was sure that everything would be fine. I knew that in a month we would get married and was preparing for it. The photo in the obituary was taken for my mom. I never thought it would be the last one… He never complained, was always ready to help, and could support anyone in any situation. Cheerful, full of life, kind, he just wanted to live… Forever in my heart. We will never forget," said the fiancée of the fallen, Anastasia. The hero was buried at the Alley of Glory in the Baranivka cemetery in Sumy. Oleksandr is survived by his parents, fiancée, brother, relatives, and friends.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
