Oleksandr M. Petrenko (Shurik)

Soldier Oleksandr Petrenko (call sign Shurik) was killed on September 16, 2023, defending the city of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region from the occupiers. In August, the warrior turned 44 years old. Oleksandr was born and lived in the village of Fedorivka, Poltava region. He graduated from the Karliv Vocational and Technical School No. 50 and obtained the profession of a tractor driver. He was engaged in agriculture. He was passionate about cars. On April 20, 2023, the man was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a machine gunner in the rifle company of the rifle battalion in military unit A2176. During his service, he was awarded the Decoration of the President of Ukraine "For the Defense of Ukraine". "He was very cheerful, always worked, never sat still. When he went to war, he said that he was most afraid of not seeing us. He always said that he loves us more than anything in the world. We miss him very much, especially me," said the deceased's daughter Daria. Oleksandr was buried in his native village. At home, his wife and two daughters were waiting for him.
