- Combat medic Oleksandr Prokopchuk was killed on February 11, 2023, during the evacuation of wounded defenders near Bakhmut in Donetsk region. He would have turned 27 years old in March. Oleksandr was born in the village of Berezhnytsya, Rivne region, in a priest's family. In 2019, he graduated from the Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. He then entered the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy and became a military doctor. During the full-scale war, the man saved Ukrainian defenders as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a combat medic in the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. "He just wanted to save people and fought for the truth, but, unfortunately, this world takes the best..." wrote the deceased's cousin Olena. "Balanced, brave, sensitive, never in a hurry. Our hearts are breaking with pain... He never complained. We couldn't talk normally and enough, because he said there was a lot of work at the front. I used to call Sasha 'Kontik' because he often ran to the store during breaks and bought sweets, always sharing with others. He was very happy when he received a food package from his mother. He didn't shy away from work. Sometimes we worked as loaders after classes... I'm glad you were in my life. I bow my head before your courage. I will never forget you," said his classmate Nestor Yavorivskyi. "The TNMU team expresses sincere condolences to the relatives and friends on the death of the hero - Oleksandr Prokopchuk. We bow our heads in honor of the fulfilled duty and cherish in our hearts the bright memory of our graduate. May the Kingdom of Heaven be yours! Eternal memory to the Hero!" the university said on its page. Oleksandr is survived by his parents, brother, wife, relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
