Oleksandr M. Shelepun

Born on March 8, 1971, in the village of Bohatyr, Pograbishchensky District, Vinnytsia Oblast. In 1986, he graduated from the eight-year secondary school in the village of Morozivka, Pograbishchensky District, and in 1989, he completed the vocational technical school No. 42 (now the Higher Vocational School No. 42) in the city of Pograbishche, Vinnytsia Oblast. From 1989 to 1992, he served in the Soviet Navy. He served in the Baltic Fleet: first in the city of Kaliningrad (Russia), then on a submarine near Lithuania. After the army, he worked in the internal affairs bodies in the city of Kyiv, then as a driving instructor at the Higher Vocational School No. 42 in the city of Pograbishche, Vinnytsia Oblast. He lived in the village of Morozivka, Pograbishchensky District, in the city of Bar, and most recently in the city of Illintsi, Vinnytsia Oblast. On May 31, 2016, he was called up for military service under contract by the Illintsi District Military Commissariat of Vinnytsia Oblast to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a driver of the anti-tank section of the anti-tank machine gun platoon of the 1st motorized infantry company of the 9th separate motorized infantry battalion of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit field post V2248). Since the summer of 2016, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On August 11, 2016, Senior Sergeant I class Shelepun was killed as a result of a mortar shelling at the platoon stronghold 5921 "Rudnik" (SP "Sopka") in the area of the city of Zolote, Popasnyansky District, Luhansk Oblast. On August 13, 2016, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Morozivka, Pograbishchensky District, Vinnytsia Oblast.
