Oleksandr M. Tarasenko (Skorpion)

Senior soldier Oleksandr Tarasenko (call sign Scorpion) died on August 27, 2023 near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. While carrying out a combat mission, he came under enemy artillery fire and sustained fatal injuries. The defender was 30 years old. Oleksandr was a native of the village of Slobidka in the Chernihiv region. He graduated from the Chernihiv State Mechanical and Technological College and obtained the qualification of a technologist. In civilian life, he was involved in construction. His last place of work was LLC "Beton vid Kovalskoi". He loved horses and was passionate about fishing. From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, the man went to defend the Motherland. He became a rifleman-sniper of the 116th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended Chernihiv and Bakhmut, and then fought in the Zaporizhzhia direction. "Oleksandr was a true patriot of Ukraine, an unbreakable warrior who defended the freedom of our Motherland. He remained faithful to his comrades-in-arms, his people and Ukraine until his last breath. He left behind a minor daughter who is disabled, he loved her very much and wanted her to grow up in a free and peaceful Ukraine," said the deceased's brother Serhii. The military was buried in his native village. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his mother, brother and daughter.
