- Soldier Oleksandr Vakula (call sign Kuznets) was killed on August 7, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Makiivka in the Luhansk region. During the last telephone conversation with his relatives, the defender assured that he was doing well. And he warned that he was going on a mission, so they should not call. He was 41 years old. Oleksandr was born and lived in the village of Bilovod, Sumy region. He graduated from the local school. Then he obtained the profession of a turner at the Zavodskyi Higher Professional School. He served in the army. Later, he worked abroad. In 2010, he got married. With his wife, he raised a son and a daughter. He was fond of fishing. His last place of work was the Poltava Directorate of Railway Transportation of the Southern Railway, where he was an auxiliary worker at the Andriyashivka station. Colleagues knew him as a sincere, faithful and reliable comrade. On December 22, 2022, Oleksandr joined the ranks of the 4th Separate Tank Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. He was a machine gunner of the infantry squad of the infantry platoon of the infantry company. For almost 2 years, he defended the country on the hot fronts. "Until the last moment of his life, the machine gunner Oleksandr Vakula preserved his loyalty to the oath, the Ukrainian people, and his Motherland... In one moment, the family lost their hope and support - their son, husband, brother, father..." - noted in the Romny community. The military was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in the city of Romny, Sumy region. Oleksandr is survived by his parents, brother, wife, son, and daughter.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
