- Major Oleksandr Vynokurov was killed on September 16, 2022, near the village of Vasylenkove in the Kharkiv region. While carrying out a combat mission, the officer triggered an anti-tank mine. He was 44 years old. Oleksandr was born in the city of Alchevsk, Luhansk region. He graduated from the Sumy Institute of Artillery and Rocket Forces. Since 1999, he had lived in Sumy. He served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for nearly 30 years. In 2022, he was set to retire. He dreamed of buying his own house and spending more time with his family. However, on February 24, 2022, a full-scale war began. Oleksandr held the position of deputy commander of a self-propelled artillery division within the artillery group of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. From the first days, he participated in the defense of his homeland against the occupiers. “He was an incredibly kind person, never refused anyone, and always kept his word,” said the widow of the fallen, Yana. “We have known each other for a long time and served together for a while. He was a true officer and a true friend who never said no. The pain is overwhelming. Rest in peace, Sasha,” noted Oleksandr's comrade-in-arms at the farewell. The officer was buried at the Glory Alley of the Baranivka Cemetery in Sumy. Oleksandr is survived by his wife and two daughters.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
