Oleksandr M. Zahoruiko

Soldier Oleksandr Zahoruiko was killed on May 13, 2022 in the battle for his native Mariupol, Donetsk region. During the defense of the Azovstal plant, he was wounded and underwent surgery. However, the wounds were too severe. The warrior was 45 years old. Oleksandr was born and lived in Mariupol. There he graduated from the local vocational school No. 74, obtaining the specialty of a welder. He worked as a welder at the Ilyich Iron and Steel Works. He was a good specialist. He devoted his free time to his family. He also loved to fish very much. In April 2021, the man signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade. He was a sapper. From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the invaders, together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended his native city. "Sasha was a very kind and strong-willed person. He had a good sense of humor. He raised our three children with a balance of severity and kindness, helping them in all their endeavors. I could always rely on him. Sasha was a real man. Very strong and smart. A good and reliable friend, he always came to help everyone. A good son and father," his wife Lilia said. Oleksandr's body was cremated. He is survived by his wife, children, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.
