Oleksandr M. Zhylinskyi (Kyian)

Oleksandr Zhylinskyi (call sign Kyianyn), a soldier of the Azov Regiment, was killed on May 15, 2022, at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol, Donetsk region. A day earlier, he had gone to the positions with his comrades-in-arms. When the military were returning to the bunker, Oleksandr was seriously wounded. He underwent a complex operation, but the warrior's heart stopped the next morning. The defender was 33 years old. Oleksandr was born in Kyiv. In 2013, he graduated from the Interdisciplinary Academy of Management, receiving a law degree. For 11 years, he worked as a marketer at the socio-political magazine "Ukrainskyi Tyzhden". He planned to obtain a journalism education. He had a clear civic position. He actively participated in the Revolution of Dignity. Helping people and faith in God became an integral part of his life. He always fought for justice. He hardened his body and spirit. He practiced his favorite sports - boxing and running - every day. In the spring of 2021, Oleksandr joined the ranks of the special purpose unit of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov". He was a fighter of the 1st howitzer-artillery platoon of the 3rd howitzer-artillery division. He met the full-scale Russian invasion in Mariupol. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he bravely defended the city. Oleksandr is not buried. His relatives are still waiting for his body for burial. He is survived by his mother, sister, close ones, and friends. Oleksandr Zhylinskyi was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, Third Degree.
