- Sergeant Oleksandr Homeniuk (call sign Pokemon) was killed on February 2, 2023 near the village of Pavlivka in Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission to defend the Motherland, he suffered a fatal mine-explosive injury. The defender remained forever 26 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Babyne, Khmilnytskyi region. He graduated from Babyne school. He served his military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He worked as a product receiver in the Silpo store in Kamianets-Podilskyi. In his free time, he played football. When the full-scale invasion began, the man could not stand aside and on March 6, 2022 he joined the ranks of the defenders of Ukraine. He served in the 68th separate Yager brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. He was the commander of the 3rd machine gun section of the machine gun platoon. "Oleksandr honorably and with dignity fulfilled his duty as a citizen of Ukraine to defend his state. Until his last breath, he remained faithful to his comrades, his people and his Motherland. I am proud of my husband Oleksandr, the children are proud of their father, the mother is proud of her son, of his courage and strength of spirit," wrote his wife Inna. "In the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he bravely stood in the battles against the enemy, showed himself to be a devoted, worthy son of his Motherland. In the combat zone, in the Donetsk region, he was the commander of the section. That's where he was killed, bravely fulfilling his military duty to defend the Motherland. He went to the end and believed in the victory of Ukraine," noted the Starosyniavska settlement council. The machine gunner was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in Kamianets-Podilskyi.
