Oleksandr O. Hulak

Soldier Oleksandr Hulak was killed on May 7, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Yampil in the Donetsk region. A month before this, the warrior turned 43 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Korop, Chernihiv region. He studied at the local secondary school. Then he obtained the profession of a forester at a vocational school. He worked on construction sites and loved his work very much, as he had a talent for it. He worked with tiles and stone. According to his colleagues, he could create masterpieces from these materials. When the full-scale war began, the man went to the military registration and enlistment office with the intention of defending his native country from the occupiers. At first, he served in the security company of the Novhorod-Siverskyi district center for recruitment and social support, and later became a serviceman of one of the combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took the position of a driver of the anti-tank guided missile section. He took part in the battles for Bakhmut and Lyman, for Kharkiv and Izium. "The viburnum has faded outside the window and the nightingale does not sing, I embrace the black cross and bow low to the ground, my dear son... He was a very sensitive person," wrote the warrior's mother, Liubov Hulak. "He was a good man. Very friendly, always with a smile on his face... He was the master of his home, everything was in its place," so remember the fallen friends. The defender was buried in his native town. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his mother and daughter.
