- Sergeant Major Oleksandr Kabachenko (call sign Kabachok) was killed on June 20, 2023 near the village of Mala Tokmachka, Zaporizhzhia region. While carrying out a combat mission and coordinating shelling, he received fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. In May, the defender turned 30 years old. Oleksandr was from Zaporizhzhia. He obtained the profession of an electric and gas welder at Zaporizhzhia Vocational School No. 23. In civilian life, he worked as a security guard and masseur. His last place of work was the Fozzy Group company "Silpo". He was interested in programming and created websites. Since 2017, he has been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2018, he signed a contract. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) / Joint Forces Operation (JFO). Later, he returned to civilian life. On the second day of the full-scale war, Oleksandr joined the army again. He fought for the Motherland in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He served in the 15th Operational Purpose Brigade named after Hero of Ukraine Lieutenant Bohdan Zavada. He was the sergeant major of the operational purpose platoon of the operational purpose company on armored personnel carriers. He participated in prisoner exchanges and offensive actions in the Zaporizhzhia direction, in particular in the area of the settlements of Stepnohirsk, Mala Tokmachka, Kam'yanske, Orikhiv. He evacuated people from Orikhiv. On May 21, 2023, the soldier was awarded the medal "For the Defense of the Native State". "Oleksandr repeatedly participated in the ATO. For his courage and martial spirit, he received the distinction of a combatant. He was always positive and with faith in victory. He went on the offensive without any doubts. "We are doing our job so that our children live in a peaceful country," he said," the widow of the fallen soldier said. The warrior was buried in the St. Matthew's Cemetery in Zaporizhzhia.
