Oleksandr O. Kalchuk

Kalchuk Oleksandr Oleksandrovych was born on July 20, 1981, in the city of Korosten, Zhytomyr region. On February 8, 2023, Senior Soldier Kalchuk Oleksandr Oleksandrovych was called up to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine as part of mobilization and assigned to serve at the Rapid Response Border Command of the 9th Border Detachment. After completing the necessary combat, medical, and tactical training, on April 22, 2023, as part of the 3rd Department of the Border Service (Type C) of the Rapid Response Border Command, Oleksandr Kalchuk was dispatched to an area of direct combat engagement in Eastern Ukraine, specifically assigned to carry out combat missions in the vicinity of the village of Karmazynivka in Luhansk region, where he demonstrated courage and the best combat qualities. On July 6, 2023, Oleksandr Kalchuk was performing a combat mission at the fire position "Hama" in the area of the village of Karmazynivka in Luhansk region. The enemy launched an attack on the border guards' positions, having previously shelled them with artillery and mortars of various calibers. During the shelling, Senior Soldier Oleksandr Kalchuk sustained multiple injuries incompatible with life. For his personal courage and selfless actions displayed in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for his loyalty to the military oath, Senior Soldier Kalchuk Oleksandr Oleksandrovych was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.
