Oleksandr O. Kartavyi (Died)

Senior soldier Oleksandr Kartavyi (call sign ) was killed in action on April 22, 2022, in the area of the village of Dovhenke in the Kharkiv region. During a defensive battle, the warrior received a fatal wound as a result of enemy artillery fire. The defender was forever 48 years old. Oleksandr was born in the urban-type settlement of Letychiv, Khmelnytskyi region. He lived in the urban-type settlement of Volodymyrets, Rivne region. He graduated from the Kyiv Academy of Light Industry. He worked in the organizational department of the district administration. In his free time, he read books and wrote poetry. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleksandr served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a rifleman-assistant grenade launcher in the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. He defended Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. "He was a bright person. Kind, sociable. He read a lot, loved nature and adored walking in the forest, knew every path there," said the sister of the deceased. "Comrades, light clouds! We will avenge each one! Glory to the Hero!" noted on the page of the Volodymyrets veterans' union of ATO participants. The paratrooper was buried in the urban-type settlement of Volodymyrets, Rivne region. Oleksandr was survived by his parents Oleksandr and Tetiana, sister Iryna, and son Artur. Posthumously, the fighter was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
