Oleksandr O. Kopus (Viski)

Kopus Oleksandr Olegovych was born in 1999 in the city of Vyshhorod in the Kyiv region. As an adult, he lived in the village of Kozarovychy in the Kyiv region and worked as a courier. In 2018, he was called up for mandatory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He spent the first 5 months serving in a military unit in Khmelnytskyi region. Subsequently, he signed a 3-year contract and joined the 72nd Mechanized Brigade. In 2020, while carrying out a combat mission, he sustained injuries. The Russian invasion of Ukraine began 5 days before the end of Oleksandr Kopus's contract. Together with his comrades, he participated in combat operations in the Kyiv region. He died on the night of March 6-7, 2022, near the village of Moschun in the Bucha district. During the enemy's offensive, the M120-15 "Molot" mortar could not withstand the load and exploded. Oleksandr, who was near the mortar with his comrades, lost his legs and died from his injuries.
