Oleksandr O. Romanenko

36-year-old soldier Oleksandr Romanenko died on December 27, 2022 in the Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro. Four days earlier, he was wounded as a result of the dropping of grenades from an enemy drone on the positions of Ukrainian defenders near the village of Vodiane, Donetsk region. Oleksandr was born in Weimar (Germany). Since childhood, he lived in the Cherkasy region. He obtained the profession of an automotive mechanic at the Cherkasy Vocational and Technical School No. 17. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleksandr defended the country in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a machine gunner. "He was modest, well-mannered, calm, shy, very responsible and hardworking," said Zoya Rybak, the elder of the Rizdvyansky rural community. The defender was buried in the village of Rizdvyane in the Cherkasy region. Oleksandr is survived by his wife Maria, son Vadym, mother Valentyna, stepfather Mykola, brother Ivan, and sisters Tetyana and Olena.
