Oleksandr O. Romanov (Babakh)

Romanov Oleksandr Olehovych was born on January 23, 1992 in Kyiv. In 2008, he graduated from the Chernihiv Military Lyceum with enhanced physical training. He worked as an auto mechanic. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, he became a volunteer of the Territorial Defense Forces, and later joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, holding the position of commander of a special purpose reconnaissance and sabotage unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "Achilles", performing special tasks. He was killed on August 15, 2022 in a battle with the occupiers near Kharkiv. During the performance of a special task, the unit was withdrawing from the rear of the enemy, a battle broke out. Oleksandr Romanov remained to cover the retreat of the group and received a fatal wound to the neck. After reporting by radio that he was the 200th, Oleksandr continued to hold back the occupiers until he had used up all the ammunition of the machine gun, after which he said goodbye to his comrades by radio and died on the spot. He was buried at the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv.
